PARENT PARTICIPATION FAQ's

We are actively planning workshops in the park, online talks, and other exciting activities. There is a weekly Parent Council table on Wednesdays in front of the Lower School, where you can purchase Steiner swag, books, handmade items, candles, and other great gifts! The table will be set up weather permitting.
While there are no official "Coffee Morning" gatherings planned, we recommend that parents try to meet in the park after drop-off and/or plan Zoom coffee gatherings or evening get-togethers. These socially distanced activities will help keep you connected.
Parents can support the school in many ways: · Stay in touch with your community of class families; · Contribute to the resilience fund! Help us keep our tuition affordable so families who might otherwise struggle to afford a Steiner education can continue to be a part of our community, · Donate to our auctions! (And don't forget to bid!!) · And, finally, recommend our school to your friends and circles. Our best advocates are the parents in our community. We count on your efforts to help build a stronger community.
Yes! There will be an online book fair this spring. If Covid restrictions ease, we hope to hold it indoors at the school. If you are looking for a particular book, author, or genre, please contact ejacob@elilausa.com
Due to Covid restrictions, our Spring Gala may look different, but we will keep you posted!
We suggest meeting up in the park, walking through the city, and taking advantage of the beauty around us: hikes to Bear Mountain, Ramapo woods, and the walking paths along the Hudson or East Rivers.
Now more than ever, it is essential that we spend time and effort to build our community and maintain our special bonds. There are several fun and easy things you can do to help strengthen our Steiner community: · Sign up for our "Buddy Program" The buddy program pairs existing families with new families and are designed to help new families get to know the school and learn about its myriad offerings. It's also a great way to make new friends! · Sign up to be a Steiner "Ambassador" The ambassador program is designed for current families who are willing to be an advocate for our school. Ambassadors will meet with prospective families as well as support school events. Waldorf schools across the world rely on the grass-roots support of parents and alumni. Become a parent ambassador to support our outreach and retention efforts! · Come to community events and take the opportunity to talk with prospective parents about the wonderful education our school offers. · Donate! We welcome donations to our tuition assistance initiatives at any time to help support. Your support gives struggling families the opportunity to experience a Waldorf education even during these tough economic times. https://steiner.edu/give
All events will be held online via zoom. Some workshops, like Yoga and Eurythmy, are offered outdoors. Check our community Education page on our website and watch our most recent Talks https://steiner.edu/community-education/
Yes! We are excited to offer our "Meet the Faculty" series! Be on the lookout for Zoom meeting announcements once a month to join these sessions where you will get to know the wonderful faculty members that enrich our school and usher our children into their destinies as free, engaged, and independent thinkers. Class meetings are another great way to get to know our faculty and staff. Be sure to attend your class meetings, which will be organized by your class teacher.
