Happy Earth Day

earth-day.jpgToday is #EarthDay, and it is exciting to read many beautiful posts from schools, businesses and individuals. At the Rudolf Steiner School, members from our High School Green Club enlightened and WOWed! our younger students in grades 1-5.

Among the activities that our high school students shared with these inquisitive younger students was how our composting work has helped us produce food. The older students brought over a few composting bins and showed the youngsters how they transplanted tomatoes from seedlings to fully-grown, ripe, tasty tomatoes. Each class will receive their own tomato vine to continue nurturing and loving through the spring.

One Green Club member, senior Sasha P, who will be attending @BrownUniversity next year, brought over a hive from the Italian Honey Bee colony, which lives on our rooftop. Below is a picture of Sasha nurturing these wonderful bees (it is incumbent and essential that we protect the bee colonies, so please research it and find a way to get involved).
